Active Care

Active Care – A Form of Rehabilitation

Active care is a form of rehabilitation designed specifically for each patient to achieve balance in their bodies by facilitating under-active muscles and achieving efficient movement patterns.

We work with patients to design a program that works with their needs as well as their lifestyle to make sure that the at home exercises and stretches are easily integrated into their daily routines.

A combination of strength, stability, mobility, and flexibility training are used to achieve muscular balance during the active care sessions. Once you’ve gotten to the active care stage of your treatment plan, you will be taught stretches and strengthening exercises during your appointments and also be given easy to follow take home sheets.

Many of the exercises we teach do not require any tools at all so they are easy to do both at home or your office.  We always say that similar to wearing a retainer after braces are removed, active care stabilizes the progress we’ve had thus far to decrease the chance of recurrence.

Active Care Facts

  • Active care is for everyone! From marathon runners looking to up their performance to someone looking to get their range of motion back after years of sitting at a computer for work.

  • Some people like to bring a change of clothes for active care but it’s not necessary. As long as you feel comfortable in what you have on, we’ll be just fine.

  • Benefits patients see from active care include decreased pain, increased flexibility and the knowledge of preventative steps to do on their own.

  • The tools that we use in active care, like foam rollers, stretch out straps and more, are all available for purchase in office if you would like to have them at home.
